Can you breed an AKC dog with a CKC dog?My english bulldog is CKC registered but the only breeders in the area are all AKC. Can you breed the two? If so, would the puppies be registered to AKC or CKC?First of all, my dog is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club. Second, if you aren't offering advice beneficial to my question, don't post. I do not care about your stance on breeding or anything else for that matter. My dog is a brendall and I am breeding because I want more than oneONCE AGAIN, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING BENEFICIAL TO MY QUESTION, SHUTUP!I am not breeding for money, I'm doing it because I love this type of dog. And anymore spellcheck police can leave their comments to their selves. People like you abuse this website to make yourself feel better.Im really starting to think that half of you dont even read the question.Canadian Kennel Club, not Continental. If she was Continental, I wouldnt even bother with registration.P.S. stud fees are much less expensive than a new puppy. Plus I am hoping for more than one.

    • Canadian Kennel Club's rules on breeding to dogs registered with other clubs ( http://www.ckc.ca/en/Default.aspx?tabid=103&ItemId=24 ):Q. Does the dam or mother of a puppy have to be CKC registered?A. To be considered a purebred, both parents of the puppy must be registered with the CKC. The dam (mother) must be registered with the Club in the name of the person signing the application for registration as owner or lessee at the time of the birth of the litter. Only the recorded owner or lessee of the dam at the time of birth of the litter may apply for registration of the litter and only the recorded owner or lessee of the dam at the time of birth will be considered the recorded owner at birth of the litter. Q. Does the sire or father have to be CKC registered?A. To be considered a purebred, both parents of the puppy must be registered with the CKC. If owned or leased by a resident of Canada, it must be confirmed that the sire (father) is registered with the Club in the name of the person certifying the service on the application. If a resident of another country owns a sire, it is necessary to provide an original or notarized copy of the certified three-generation pedigree of the sire that has been issued by a recognized foreign club. A registered name and number for every dog in the pedigree is required, along with an official chain of ownership from the relative foreign club to confirm legal title. AKC's special registration rules:( https://www.akc.org/rules/special_registry_services.cfm )--Short answer: Yes, the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club recognize each other as legit registrations. They can end up being registered to both if you go through all the required steps.

    • Shame on you. The shelters are full, full, full of unwanted puppies and dogs of all kinds. A dog is euthanized in this country every 16 seconds and YOU are part of the problem if you breed your dog without regard. Spay your dog!

    • No good breeder with an AKC dog would want to breed with a CKC dog because the CKC papers are worthless. CKC will take anything. Even mutts. I'm not saying your dog is a mutt. It may well be pure bred, but it does not have the right papers for breeding. However if your dog is Canadian Kennel Club and not the Continental one from the US it maybe possible. Look into it.If you can't get your dog the AKC papers which you probably can't or the breeder would of got them you should get the dod either spayed or neutered if it's not Canadian Kennel Club.

    • I believe that the puppies would be able to be registered with both the AKC and Canadian KC. It is my understanding that they recognize each other.it would be best, however to check with both registries to make sure.Since you are breeding make sure to check your breed standard for color families (don't know if bulldogs have color code of ethics or not like some breeds do) also make sure your girl is at least 2 years old,has had and passed all genetic tests (not just simple vet exams), meets the breed standard and has something to offer back to the breed other then just a litter of puppies.Bulldogs can have pregnancy/whelpinmg complications because of head size, etc..so please find a responsible Bull Dog breeder who can mentor you and also make sure your vet is well versed in the breed and it's special needs. Study everything possible on breeding, pregnancy, whelping and newborn care before hand.2 books I recommend that will help with general info is Successful Dog Breeding by Chris Walkowicz and Bonnie Walkowicz DVM (this book not only is a great guide it also has genetic issues and other issues found in various breeds) and The Whelping and Rearing of Puppies by Muriel P. Lee*****stud fee is usually the price of a puppy or a pick puppy so it would not be cheaper then buying a puppy******
