    • Try to prove that you are responsible enough to take care of it. They are a lot of work. Try taking care of a friends cat for them or try taking care of a stuffed cat, going through all the necessary things to prove you can do it. You might find that you aren't ready for one, and if you, like most kids, plan on moving out when youre 18 that would mean youre around 8yrs old and personally not many 8 year olds are dedicated enough to take care of a cat.

    • I had to campaign for a kitten for quite a while before I gave up and just happened to bring one home. I do not reccomend randomly bringing home animals. Try making a price list. Price the food, litter, box, toys, vet bills, ect that come with owning a pet. Once you know how much money you're going to need start saving. Proving to your mother that she won't be financially responsible for your animal will make a big difference. Most vets sell "kitten packages" which is the first year's shots and such for about $100. Plan where you would put the box so that the house won't smell of cat. Is she worried about the claws? Tell her you know how to clip them twice a month so that the cat can't scratch. I don't reccomend having a cat declawed. Declawing a cat, in my opinion, is cruel. The vet has to go in and remove the first nuckle of the animal which means they're basically cutting off their "finger tips." Can you imagine how incredibly painful cutting off your finger tips would be? Get Kittens for Dummies and read it while around your mother, show that you're serious about taking care of your animal. Try asking to adopt from the pound, you'll be saving a kitten's life...and she'll be helping by allowing you to do so. Look up facts online such as; did you know that a kitten in born in the US every 4.2 seconds? A cat is destroyed every 7 seconds. Keep working on it, I'm sure she'll cave. After all who can argue with an imformed, prepared, determined daughter? Good luck!

    • I AGREE WITH MS_KHAEL. CATS ARE WONDERFUL, BUT TAKE WORK AND COMMITTMENT. YOU WOULD BE TAKING ON POSSIBLY AN 18 YEARCOMMITTMENT. MAYBE YOUR MOTHER KNOWS WHAT I KNOW. MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS BEGGING FOR A PUPPY AND I SAID NO BECAUSE I KNEW SHE WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH AND LIKED TO GO OUT TOO MUCH WHICH WOULD LEAVE THE PUPPY WITH ME OR HER DAD. DAD TOOK HER OUT AND SHE GOT A PUP AND NOW HE IS MY HUSBANDS BEST BUD AND MY DAUGHTER WENT ON HER MERRY WAY. THERE IS ALOT OF EXPENSE INVOLVD AND THEY ARE NOT THROW-AWAY WHEN YOU GROW TIRED OF THEM. WHAT IF IT'S FEEDING TIME AND YOU ARE TIRED, WILL YOU DRAG YOURSELF UP AND FEED THE CAT OR WILL YOU LET IT GO HUNGRY. REMEMBER THEY RELY ON THEIR HUMANS TO FEED AND WATER AND CLEAN UP AFTER THEM. 18 YEARS OF THIS, CAN YOU HANDLE IT? THEY ARE NOT JUST CUTE AND FURRY, THEY HAVE FEELINGS JUST LIKE WE DO.

    • Ok here is what you should do. Get it bring it home and tie a bow around its head. Put it on her bed and say it is from your dad and she will keep it. Just say you pitched in and then she will let you have it.

    • i brought home my first kitten one day without my parents knowledge or approval and i was able to keep it for about 3 days and i ended up having to give her to my aunt who loved cats. the reason i didn't get to keep her was because my parents didn't like them, they preferred dogs instead.you can try to convince her but if she has her mind made up, then that's probably it.when i moved out i was able to get as many cats as i wanted, now i have 4. (have a heart to heart with your mom with the puppy dog eyes-it just may work!)

    • address the issues she has about getting a cat and be informed. tell her cats are about the easiest pet to have- they pretty much take care of themselves. if she doesn't like the smell of the litter box or the sight of one- get a hidden one- it just looks like a little house. also have money saved for shots, declawing (if that's what you want to do), food, and extra misc stuff- maybe this will show her you are serious. also try to get her in a situation where she can interact with a kitten- they are so cute how could she say no after that?
