How long should you wait for a clutch to hatch before considering it a dud?

Starlings laid a nest in my grill. The first egg was laid on May 11th, the last (4 total) on May 14th. I read somewhere that the eggs do not begin gestating until the clutch is complete and starling eggs take about 10 days, which would have been Wednesday, the 24th. The parents still come even though they are still unhatched.It is in my barbeque grill.

You should wait until the parents give up. After all, momma knows best! Also, if the nest is in the grill of your car, do not drive the car, don't even start the engine.

It takes 40 days for them to hatch, not 10 so start from the day the last egg was laid and then count to 40 days.

the clutch is a dud when the parents have not attended the babies for as little as 4 days... eggs have to be kept at a constant temperature to hatch... do not touch themsusan

you should wait until all the other babies hatch then wait an hour
