How do I get rid of a nasty cat odor?

My cat Delila emitted a strange odor the other day. The odor is now lingering on the sofa. Is there anything to get rid of it?

Has she been fixed, the only way a cat odor will come out is with vinegar. it might smell bad, but it works, clean it with vinegar first and then regular soap and water again. Good luck!

If it's on the carpet, steam clean it. On the sofa use lots and lots of spray odor eliminator, or vaccum the sofa.

Most petshop sells effective deodor spray for cats that should get the smell out of your sofa.It does require several step and application if it needs to be repeats, but nevertheless it should help with your situation.

yeah,dump the couch, get a new one...put the cat to sleep, get a dog....OOORRRR.....Go to pet store and get enzimatic pet oddor remover.

well if one of my kids pee in their bed I take a can of air freshener and spay it directly onto the spot and then let it dry - works beautifully - you could also scrub the area with seltzer soda water - I don't know why this works but it's great for vomit smell.

Are you sure your cat is a girl?????Anyway ... set out bowls of white vinegar in the room and when the vinegar evaporates, the odor will be gone. ALso, clean the upholstery with white vinegar and water.

Apart from everyone Else's recommendations for the enzymatic cleaner (which is true). Cats (AND DOGS) can have problems with 2 little glands on either side of their butt -- Anal Glands. Although it is less common with cats, they can become filled and get 'expressed' by the cat (usually when they poop - but may happen when they are excited, stressed, or if they are infected). Anyway, this stuff stinks !!! If the problem continues see your regular veterinarian.
