    • There is this wonderful site that showcases all the characters and traits and behaviors of different dog breeds. You can just try clicking on the link to go straight to Shiba-Inu.http://dogtime.com/shiba-inu.html

    • Go to AKC.org You will find a list of breeders there plus rescue and at least one breed club secretary for the Shiba Inu. Contact the secretary. That's a good place to start learning about this breed and any other AKC breed.

    • 1. they shed 2 times during the year really bad.2. they can become protective and a little mean3.kinda stubborn4. u need to train them and a early age5.they and fun playful dogs6. i love them. they are so cute. i would get one if i had the time

    • They are lovely dogs. Though I don't think they are good with cats though. They are stubborn dogs and aren't as easy to train..yes they are an average shedder...You might want to consider another breed, as it seems you will be happier with one that matches your requirements ! :D(I never had one, but was about to get one...really stubborn dogs..)You might want a Poodle, they are good with cats if brought up with them, a breeze to train, and don't shed a lot as well. My friend has a standard poodle, but they come in 3 sizes ! :DMy first impression of the poodle was..uh..not that great. I always thought they had that show cut...(Not a big fan of that cut..) but my friend's poodle is the cuttest little thing ever ! (well big ! ha) and he didn't look like a poodle at all.. [: I hope I helped, good luck ! :D

    • They are smart, stubborn and will go to extremes to get their own way. Seriously! You will be manipulated by this dog at least once before you learn his ways. They constantly test boundaries, rules, and you.You have to be firm, consistent and a very strong leader. You have to be willing to MAKE these dogs behave. This is not the right dog for a first time dog owner. (you might not be, you don't mention either way) They are small, but NOT purse dogs. If you try to make this dog into a baby (dressing it up, letting it eat from your plate, etc.) he will become a biting, horrible terror. Obedience training is a must. All dogs shed. Brush them and it's not a problem. They need more exersize than the adverage small dog too. You'll need to take up jogging or teach him to run next to a bicycle.

    • I have never owned one, but i can tell you some things i have heard. Well, first off they are pretty stubborn, and arent going to go out of their way to please you. Also they are a bit snooty to people, and dont really appreciate being bossed around. As for your questions about shedding, they are sesonally heavy shedders. You may want have to look at this link, about shibas, and their characteristics... http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/shiba.htm And since they are a bit on the stubborn side, it may make training a some what difficult. Now cats, i am sure that if they are raised with them the will get along great. Also if they are introduced properly. For tips and advice, i would recomend watching "Dog Whisperer" on the National Geographic chanel. Also i encourage you to buy at least one of Cesar Millans books. Here are some more websites...Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer. http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/Dog Breed Info Center. I find them to be very helpfull, and informative. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/index.htmPet Finder, mabe you could rescue a shiba! :) http://petfinder.com/And some dog breed selector quizzes, to make sure a shiba is right for you. Cause some dogs arent right for sertain people, (and im not saying a shiba is wrong for you, btw) and if that happens dog wind up in shelters :( a very sad situation.
