How to make a puppy trust me?

I am a novice dog owner and in 8 days my very first dog (a chocolate lab puppy) will be ready to come home. Does anyone have ideas on how to form trust between the two of us? I want the puppy to feel comfortable and happy in its new home. <img src="https://dogencyclopedia.net/FRAMeWORK/wcf/images/smilies/smile.png" alt=":)" />

    • Let him smell you all he wants, maybe even crawl all over you and just play with him a little. Let him know your a good person, but make sure he knows you're the boss. Just treat him well and spend a lot of time with him. If he really likes you he should lick your hands and face a lot. haha. Hope I was helpful.

    • If you can't get a labrador puppy to trust you, you might actually be satan.Seriously. Lab pups are just about the sweetest, most trusting animals on the planet.Calm down. Take it day by day. It's not a race. The puppy will need lots of care an attention. Start by playing and doing fun training.

    • If you crate train it you should put your pillow cases in there so that when he goes to sleep at night his bed smells like you. Instead of getting mad when he does something wrong praise him when he does something right. Spend time with him and let him smell you. And play and love him. You will do just fine, you obviously care about him and I'm sure it will show(:

    • feel free to, at any time, throw your puppy into the air, each time you catch him, he will trust you more!try having a friend toss the puppy off of your roof and into your arms.If this doesn't work, your relationship obviously has a problem,I would recommend the two of you seek counselling to work through your problem.

    • Trust doesn't just come from affection. Some people believe if you follow the puppy everywhere and pet it all day long your dog will favor you the most. To earn the respect and trust of a dog, you must take the leadership role. When you first get your puppy, do not do the excited OMGSSSSH HIIIII PUPPPPY , HELLLO! babytalk thing. Let him see your house, explore, and whatnot. Your puppy will respect and trust you when you do disipline, exersise, and THEN affection. Feeding your dog, walking your dog, this is how you gain the trust. Gooodluck ! :]
