    • It is bad for them, but I think they have to eat an excessive amount ( depending on their size) for it to do anything major. A few crumbs aren't gonna hurt anything.

    • Chocolate can poison a dog, yes. It's a chemical IN the chocolate that's bad, and the darker the chocolate is, the worse it is. At the very least it's going to upset his stomach and you don't really want him to get the runs while in the house.

    • A chemical in chocolate is what's actually poisonous to dogs. It is dangerous, but it takes quite a bit to actually kill a dog. It depends alot on the size of the dog and such. They do make special chocolate that's safe for dogs, though.

    • Yes, chocolate is toxic to dogs. The chocolate contains "theobromine" which is toxic to dogs when ingested in sufficient quantities. So, if your dog is eating small amounts of chocolate, he should be okay. It generally takes 100-150 mg/kg of theobromine to cause a reaction, and as an example, milk chocolate contains 44 mg of theobromine per ounce.

    • IT IS NOT A MYTH!! It is toxic. It does not digest. If it doesn't kill it, it can build up in their system causing problems later. A few Chrismases ago, my daughter came home from college, and had chocolate hidden in her room. You guessed it. The dogs got into it. I ended up having to force them to throw up with hydrogen peroxide. But, if it has been too long, even that does not work.

    • You terrible man! Just kidding. Anyway according to this Trainer on It's me or the Dog, there's an ingredient in chocolate that is toxic to dogs. It can kill them, give them diarrhea or put him in shock. Chocolate should NOT be given to dogs at any time at any circumstance.

    • NO trust me it is so bad for dogs it is like a posien . my uncle had a dog and he left a bar of chocolate on his conter . so he walked in to the kichen and cought his dog steeling it off the counter. his dog died that day. i felt so bad about it too it was a sweet dog. please do not give your dog chocolate it could make them very sick and could eventully kill them!here go to these web sites and you can see for your self that it kills dogs!http://www.gsrne.org/Chocolate.htmhttp://www.howstuffworks.com/question348.htmhttp://news.mongabay.com/2005/0803-chocolate_kills.htmlhttp://www.petcaretips.net/chocolate-poisoning-dog.htmlhttp://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoamulch.asphttp://pets.robbiehaf.com/chocolate.htmhttp://www.talktothevet.com/ARTICLES/DOGS/chocolatetoxic.HTMhttp://www.dogownersdigest.com/news/library/chocolate-dog-poisoning.shtmlhttp://www.transportcafe.co.uk/dogchocolate.htmlhttp://missouriscenicrivers.com/baddogfoods.htmlplease dont feed your dog choclate!

    • dogs can be allergic to chocolate so small amounts probably wont kill him depending on the size of your dog... small amounts by accadent id say is ok. but i wouldent go give my dog a nice big old chocolate bar because it can give them heart attacks

    • Yes excessive amounts can kill a dog. If they ingest a little bit though, they will be all right. It will cause them diarrhea or to vomit though so be keep an eye on any pets that so happen to ingest a bit.

    • Chocolate is really bad for the dog. If you want to know just how bad? Go out and invest in ten Mars bars. Eat them all at once, that is in one sitting. When you are finished, sit back and feel the pain, because that is exactly what the dog will be feeling with just one Mars bar!!! A dog is a natural born scavenger ...they will eat anything they deem food. It is in their nature so deep that the best analogy I can think of is this. A woman is born with about 450 eggs in her body, to insure the ability to have babies at the proper age. A dog is born with the mindset of a scavenger to insure it's survival.Potato's, & onions are also toxic to dogs. Don't feed those to a dog, even if they want it.If you want to give a dog the taste of chocolate, then give treats of CAROB. This is a sweet treat for the dog and it does not hurt them at all.I'm glad you asked, it means you care for the welfare of your dog. That is good for you.God bless and take care.
