    • thats crazyy. dogs dont die from eating chocolate.. ive fed dogs chocolate cake a million times still alive it maybe a rumor or maybe depends on what kind of chocolate it is like if it has wine in it or what give em the safe kind tho

    • The darker, or more pure, the chocolate the worse for the dog. Such as cocoa or just dark chocolate. I've given mine milk chocolate before, but because it's a mixture of chocolate and milk it's not devistating.

    • dogs and cats dont have the same enzymes we have to enable the chocolate to be absorbed & broken down there is cat & dog chocolate available in pet shops they can eat only very small quantities of our chocolate

    • I know! My dog ate a 2 ft chocolate bunny because she found it in the car and she not dead! My aunts a vet and she said its the same with humans it just makes them hiper and high blood sugar! Think of it this way if we ate chocolate 24 seven we would die too wouldnt we? So its not like you give them one piece then the next day there dead so ya and trust me my aunts a vet so she would know!

    • whoa whoa whoa- to the people who say feeding their dogs chocolate is a "myth" then you need to speak to your vet or educate yourself online! Feeding them chocolate is in fact horrible to do. Their are chemicals in the chocolate that can not be broken down by the canines immune system- causing toxins to be exposed in the dog, and ultimately could result in death. DON'T RISK IT.

    • From what I've read everywhere it's the bitter baking chocolate that dogs should not have becaue it has a protein element that dogs cannot digest. , It is chocolate in it's most basic form. Milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate (toll house chocolate chips) are a mix of this along with other ingredients like milk, coco butter, soy lethisin that dilute the chocolate and make it less harmful. My dogs like to drink the melty last bit of a bowl of chocolate icecream. They eat it on a regular basis, just a sip or two, and have never been sick.

    • there are many foods that are toxic to dogs like caffine onions grapes rasiens chocolate. it is the coco that is toxic and eventually it builds up in their system it may not kill them but can cause seziures and all as well milk chocolate is not as toxic as bakers chocolate wich is the bricks that u can buy in the store and melt down and sweeten and all i would stop giving the dog chocolate though and u can go on the aspca web site and see a list of toxic foods for pets and plants and all.

    • Don't give your dog chocolate. Dogs bodies are NOT the same as our own, and that is exactly why you are advised to not give dogs any kind of people food. Occasional things are okay, but you have got to watch what you give them. To answer your question - yes, chocolate can kill dogs. Just because you've done it, doesn't mean it can't happen.

    • Chocolate contains theobromine which is highly toxic to dogs, do not feed your dog chocolate anything. Theobromine is a stimulant and dogs cannot digest this as well as humans. You will also want to be careful of Cocoa Mulch which also contains trace elements of theobromine.

    • YES anyone reading about dogs knows it is not healthy for them and they can take seizures and can die! So no one should ever feed a dog on purpose anything containing chocolate. ! It takes different amounts and types for different sizes of dog but why ever chance it! A smaller dog dies easier than a larger one usually. I read a post or two on here that says their dog hasn't died...but please don't take a chance, it is not worth a life and having a painful death!
