He should start picking up today but if the weather is hot he might be a bit lethargic. Take him out for a short walk 10-15 minutes that might brighten him up .
Wish my dog had been like that! I picked him up and he was so excited to see me he literally jumped all over me the whole way home. When we got home he was jumping all over our schnauzer trying to play. I freaked out and put him in the laundry room and called the vet, he told me to give him benadryl cause he would rip his stitches if he jumped around like that, so I did and knocked his butt out. I'd call your vet, I've had many dogs neutered over the years and don't remember any being drowsy for more than 24 hours.
The lethargy should be gone by the end of today. With all of my dogs, they were fine the next morning. I would call the vet tomorrow if things aren't better. He should still remain relatively inactive. I don't recommend 15 minute walks. I recommend up and down the street, enough to get him to pee and/or poop, and that's it.
Dogs usually recover pretty quick the day of the op they are of course sleepy but the next day they are usually about 95% back to old self and the day after that are usually back to full recovery of course they may still be a little sore but that doesn' usual stop them. Is he eating drinking and going to loo ok. as you haven't said. Does he have a booster collar on as that can upset them as well. If you are worried about him call your vet they are always there for aftercare advice.
it depends on how old the dog is. when I got my puppy who was 5 1/2 months old spayed she was jumping up on the furniture and breaking the vets rules that night (it was really hard to keep her calm for 2 weeks) while my other dog who was around 2 years took two days to get back to her old self he should be back to his energetic self soon enough
Gigi was back to her normal self in three days. Mr. Spanky was back to himself later that evening! I had to demobilize him to prevent him from ripping his stitches out. Each dog will respond differently from his or her procedure, but you want to make sure they are rested for at least 3 or 4 days following. Make sure the wounds don't get infected. If you notice your dogs is acting VERY sickly or begins running a fever, then you need to get him to the vet because he could have gotten an infection. Tiredness and lethargy is normal at first. Just like with humans,
