    • Make your vet do a COMPLETE blood panel on your dog since the other problems croppped up there at his place. Insist, even take it to the local news if he is not very cooperating.Blessings, hope it all works out fine

    • Yes, it's an allopeica. I don't know the proper name. A vet Dermatologist could tell them.Edit: this has several possiblilities (Alopecia X and Follicular Displasia) No vet can know everything, especially when it comes to strange skin disorders. Be sure to check thyroid and do a blood panel. Find another vet if this one isn't willing to do a little checking. http://mysite.verizon.net/res8w765/id36.html

    • First call the vet back and get the correct diagnoses. Second, call the breeder and inform them of what is happening. Ask the breeder of this condition and ask also if any of the other pups in the litter are having the same problem.

    • I would take it back to the breeder and demand my money back. Evidently this poor dog had these problems and the breeder didn't give your friend the information she needed. It's awful to pay a large sum of money for a dog and it winds up sick and it costs even more.

    • Consider a 2nd opinion and work up on the animal. We adopted a silky from a breeding mill with lots of blackish spots. It turned out to be a hormonal issue from years of non-stop breeding. You really may need a specialist.Check if any good vet schools(colleges) are in your area as well.Calif. and Colorado produces some of the finest vets around to name but a few.

    • First of all, there is no such thing as a "mini" dachshund, and people who profess to breed them are your typical BYB or puppy mills. These so called "mini's, or toy's, are a product of incredibly poor breeding and don't live very long lives. Your "friend" is in for some major vet bills. They usually have a lot of medical problems. Did your friend not get a health guarantee with the puppy?
