What kind of diet is recommended for dogs with calcium oxalate stones or crystals?

I've heard low in magnesium is good for those with struvite stones or that an acidic diet (like raw) is better to prevent struvite stones, but what kind of diet is good to prevent calcium oxalate stones?Thanks Carol, but that vet stuff is horrible. It contains artificial ingredients like the chemicals BHA and BHT which cause cancer. Trading stones for cancer provides no health advantage.

Our dog was put on CD vet food by our vet & he did fine on it. Our vet wasn't sure if his urinary tract infection was caused by the crystals or if the crystals caused the infection.

For dogs with urinary stones and crystals, you want to make sure that your dog's body is more acidic. The best way is to feed a raw diet. Beef and rabbit are good meats which are acidically higher. But you do not want the diet to be too acidic because then while preventing struvite stones, you could contribute to oxalate stones. More acidic is good, humans on the other hand benefit from having an alkaline blood chemistry (opposite of dogs). If you do a search on acidic and alkaline foods, you could try to figure something out, it would be good to get help from a professional to develop a nutritionally balanced slightly acidic diet. You could do some deep research on the RAW diet, much of the time, RAW feeding has helped many pet owners avoid urinary stones all together.Please please avoid the stuff vets sell. It's horrible. It trades one problem for a whole slew of health problems. Vets get very very little nutrition education and it is funded or backed by Hills/Science Diet... which you know what they're interested in... $$$$$$$$Plus vets make about 40% profit off the crappy "food" they sell. Again... $$$$$$$$$
