I don't think you should be getting a dog because its looks like a wolf.I'm sure why you are getting it is because you might think its "cool" to have a wolf looking dog.just go to your pound, you can find many wonderful dogs there, maybe even one who looks like a wolf!
well the Tamaskan wolf dog is a combination of wolf and another breed(dog) and the Tamaskan dog is the most wolf-like looking dog. You can choose from either one cuz they both resemble a wolf-like characteristics. I for one would go with the Tamaskan dog but its ur choice either one would make a good choice.
The Tamaskan Dog is an actual breed. The Tamaskan Wolfdog is one kennel owners made up name for crossing a Tamaskan Dog with other wolf looking dogs. A Tamaskan Dogs is registered through the Tamaksan Dog Registry (TDR) and there are only a few breeders in the USA and most Tamaskan Dog breeders are in the UK. The Tamaskan Wolfdog is only available through one kennel in North Carolina and are mix breeds sold at a high dollar to fool people into thinking they are getting a Tamaskan Dog.Before you buy any dog check out the breeder and just dont take their word or the word of their satisfied customers. Check their sources, Breed clubs, and so on.Ask to see proof of breed pedigrees, Any health testing done, such as hips x-rayed through the OFA and DNA testing,A good breeders will check you out as a good dog owner by requiring you to fill out a puppy application. They will never offer you a puppy until at least 8 weeks old.
Tarheel is correct in his answer as I have a Registered Tamaskan Dog from the now kennel that breeds as Tamaskan Wolfdogs. This kennel is breeding Tamaskans to Utonagan and now possibly to a hybrid. There will also be a cousin of the Tamaskan Dog to be bred in the US in the near future, the Aatu Tamaskan. But before you purchase any dog that resembles a wolf, check with your state, county and city governments to see if such a dog is permitted.
