I have a 12 mth old kelpie recently moved to the city. She is exercised for a couple of hrs a day off leash. Runs around with other dogs, chasing balls, etc. Has stared to chase anything that moves fast eg joggers, skaters. This is scaring people and she has actually bailed a child up barking madly at them. Doesn't listen when this happens. She is a great dog but can be very naughty at times Any suggestions in getting her to stop this

    • You are going to have to keep her on a leash if you have her in the city.Secondly, kind of hard to keep a dog from doing what it was bred to do. Kelpies are wonderful herders, some of the best in the herding category. Telling her not to herd the things that are moving are must be near torture for her. See if you can't find a herding club, or a herding class to get involved in, it will help her burn some of those instincts. Also look into a fairly new activity called treibball, which will allow you and she to work on her herding skills at home!

    • Keep her on leash or you'll be answering questions to Animal Control when someone reports your dog. Chasing joggers and skaters is not on. Bailing up a child will result in your dog being seized by animal control.Be a responsible dog owner and don't give the people who are responsible dog owners a bad reputation.

    • You are at fault for this - if she bites or trips someone all the medical bills are going to be on you the owner. KEEP THE LEASH ON when around people who are jogging or skating. It's not the jogger's fault you can't control your dog, it's yours. The dog can severely injure a skater who hits the ground hard and slams their head into concrete. You've had plenty of warning about the dog's actions already- why are you not putting the leash ON the dog and not letting her run loose in those areas? All it takes is one accident. Your dog is not voice trained. You have no control. Step up and take responsibility and TRAIN the dog now.
