What is a safe way to give a cat a bath without getting clawed?

My sister has tried it the way she was told and gets clawed everytime.

    • Asolutely ruled out cats HATE water. If they are indoor cats they clean themselves well (The vain creatures - you just have to say how preety the look and they start cleaning (preening) themselves.) We use water spray to decipline them when they get over playful and pounce at your ankles.

    • Cats are remarkable clean animals, so you shouldn't need to give them a bath. However, if they get into something dirty, or they have a skin/coat condition that requires a bath (or baths) then there are ways you can keep the number of scratches to a minimum. If at all possible, don't jump right into full-blown baths; take baby steps. Try to train the cat that baths are a good thing - first off, gently put the cat into the sink (or the tub if you want) and pet her. Talk gently to her and just get her used to the sink/tub. After maybe a week of this, you can try using a damp cloth and wiping her while she's sitting in the sink/tub. When you think she's ready to get totally soaked, don't run the water when she's in the bathroom and NEVER put the cat underwater! Gently set the cat in the sink/tub, and have someone else help you hold her carefully. Fill up a container with warm (never hot!) water. Carefully pour a little bit over her, and pet her. Always praise and reward her, throughout all of these little steps up to a bath. You can also search Google or some other search engine for 'how to give a cat a bath' or something like that and you can find some sites with the above tips and more. Good luck!

    • Cat's usually clean themselves, but if you think kitty needs some help try the cat wipes available at any pet store. If it's necessary for a more through cleaning, wrap kitty's front paws in scotch tape, don't worry it comes off easily, like a glove, when your done. And once kitty is wet they usually stop fighting. Of course be gentle about the whole thing, and don't throw the cat under the water.

    • We tried to bathe are cat and she turned into Cujo kitty. So, we told the cat from this moment on you will have to clean yourself. Havn't bathed her since and she remains clean all on her own.
