How can I stop my kitten from walking under my feet?

How can I stop my kitten from walking under my feet? I'm afraid that I might step on her and hurt or kill her. I don't want to hurt her.

Squirt bottles make kittens uncomfortable when they do things they should not. It could train her to stay out from under your feet.

You cant... we have small dogs and we just have to watch our step, or we trip over them. it can be very dangerous... good luck tho.

If you watch wild cats or even domestic cats, they do this with the mother cat. This is a good sign, it means she trusts you and has identified you as her "leader". She will grow out of this behavior in time as she starts to feel safe within her little world but until then you can put a bell on her collar so you will always know where she is at.Good Luck!

maybe purposely step on her (not too hard) when she is underfoot, so she gets the idea...also i have heard of spraying water on a cat's face might work...

That's cute. Step on her tail softly. Cats aren't as stupis as dogs, they can get the point.

Well, if you step on her, she'll learn not ot do that. But, make sure that you don't break her paw by doing that. But, my cats learn from experience. Hope was about to touch a candle burning and I tapped her nose when she was trying to paw at it and she didn't listen. So, she burned herself. But, not too terribly. I was watching. But, the next time she went by the candle and just sat there, I praised her.

she is a kitten. They won't stop walking under your feet. Just be aware and careful. You can maybe pick her up when you see her headed that way and then put her down in front of you.

Spraying her with some water is your best option. Cats are incredibly intelligent animals. She will get the point. Once she learns to walk WITH you and not under you, make sure to praise her with a treat. The clue to educating a cat is repetitiveness. Enfore the behaviors you want by praising her and the ones you don't want by spraying her with water. You'll be surprised how fast she will learn :)Good luck!

kick her gently...if can't work,kick her harder;still cannot, kick her to the other side of the room.

The best way for her to learn is for her to get hurt. While you might not want to it will work. I'm not saying step down with all your weight but if she gets kicked a little or steped on a bit she will get the idea and learn that hanging out by her mommy's feet is not the best place for her to be.
