    • O this sometimes depends on the store:fore example if you went to Petco, you could get Science Diet dog food for $15if you go to Pet Smart you could get the same dog food for about $13but if you go to stop & shop for this brand you can get it for $10 or lessyou could also get the store brand food, it still has all the nitients it needs but its cheaperScience Diet is the food we've given to our dog since she waz 2 1/2 months and now shes 1 year and 3 months and she is the most happy, healthy and playful pup you'll find:D

    • Petsmart has its own holistic grain free brand its cheeper then many and good food.but all in all. your going to pay for quality food just like you pay for food for yourself. Theres always the make it yourself option which is cheeper but your doing the labor and spending a couple hours in the kitchen once every week or two depending on how much you make and need

    • I would like to "thank you" for so much being concerned about your dog's health. They give us so much happiness so it becomes our duty to take care of their health. Puppies do need balanced diet; there are various packaged food brands available like Royal Canin, Denes etc. However, home food is best but due to time constraints people they usually resort to packaged food. Good brand dog food they claim to be fresh and healthy for the pet.Nothing wrong with homemade dog food but it's imperative that you understand dog nutrition if you are doing this without help. Just learn how to make excellent recipes that are balanced and healthy for dogs. Best of luck.

    • don't give your dog Old Roy. This was posted a few years ago, so I don't know if they've changed the formula, but you do NOT want to give corny kibble to your dog.my dog's kibble is on the pricey side (Blue Buffalo) but it's good. for dinner we feed him grated or juiced carrots, apples, celery, some kale or swiss chard, with a cup of plain oatmeal and about a half pound of raw turkey. sometimes we throw in some beet or banana.

    • I raised Miniature Schnauzers for 20 years on Purina Puppy Chow and Purina Dog Chow. I never had a problem with anything in this food. There is absolutely no need to get into the high price kibble unless your dog has food allergiesMany dogs can eat just about anything you put into their mouths without any reaction or health problems.I've owned many dogs with food allergies, so I have to buy the expensive grades now, but none of my Miniature Schnauzers had food allergies so the Purina products worked just fine. You will hear people tell you Purina food is junk, but it simply isn't so. They do use some ingredients that aren't top notch, but there is nothing in their food that is dangerous for anyones dog.Your best bet is to go to the stores, take pen and paper for comparison, and read the labels on dog foods available to you.The higher quality foods will not contain any corn, wheat, soy, by-products or chicken. Stay away from BHA and ethoxyquin (preservatives in some of the cheaper brands of food), beet pulp (just a filler) and any kibble with grains in the first five ingredients. Here is a site that tells you the better foods;http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com

    • Your puppy will do quite well on any of common brands, corn, by products, etc. and all. Any suggestion otherwise is so much marketing hype made up by the greedy companies selling more expensive foods. They will say anything to get you to buy their over priced products. My dog and many, many others I see do very well on Pro Plan. The same thing for other common brands.
