I live in a major city and don't have a car so carrying large bags of dog food while walking isn't easy. I would like to switch to a better dog food and I'm in the process of finding the right food for my dog, but would prefer it to be shipped to my apartment. Is there a great website out there that has different foods ( I'll be switching her food often to ensure balance) or do I go through the website of the brand itself?

    • First of all switching food "often" could lead to stomach upset. It's your decision to rotate foods but don't do it TOO often and do mix in one food with the other as you do it. Anyway.I'd recommend www.onlynaturalpet.com.Edit: For those who have difficulty reading, I did not say that I have a problem with switching foods, I just have a problem with switching too often and too abruptly.

    • Actually, switching dog food often is a bad choice. It upsets the flora of the intestines and the dog will have constant diarrhea from all the switching around while the intestines adjust to the new food. It is best to stick to one good brand and feed it consistently. We order our food from PetCo.com. They deliver right to our door by UPS.

    • Pet Food Direct has some high quality foods (and also some low-quality foods, so be careful) that can be shipped by mail.http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/You can also order dog food through many of the dog food company's individual websites. Also, check out the holistic pet food stores in your area. Sometimes, they offer delivery for a small fee or occasionally even free if you order a certain dollar amount worth of food.---I disagree with switching food being bad. No dog food is perfect. And rotating can help against the development of allergies.http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/how-often-should-i-change-foods.htmlAlways remember to change gradually, typically over a 2 week timespan on average (if you dog has a sensitive stomach, it may take longer and smaller amounts of ratio being changed; if you dog handles changes in diet well, it may only take a week):25% food A, 75% food B50% food A, 50% food B75% food A, 25% food B100% food A.

    • Okay I like and use Royal Canin dog food. It is a high quality food, that offers various life stages- I do NOT rcmd switching foods- find one you and your dog like, and stick with it. Their digestive system is much different than yours- and variety is very hard on their systems ( and can be hard on your pocketbook with lots of vet visits- loose stool, vomiting, refusing to eat)If you want to give your dog a "treat" buy a couple cans of wet food ( the same brand you are feeding) and put some on the dry food, or my 3 dogs love when I fill their "kong" toy with wet food and fridge it for a few hours- it makes a great doggie popsicle!

    • I use timberwolf and they have always had good customer service with me. I have switched flavors on my mastiff a number of times now and he is doing great. They ship and it is easy as pie....Also, at 160 lbs my dog is only eating about 4 cups a day. That's good food. timberwolforganics.com

    • I like Innova, Chicken Soup, and Solid Gold. Be careful switching dog foods abruptly if you don't already know, mix the two together for 1-2 weeks and lower the amount of the older dog food. Perhaps you should consider some suppliments instead of changing dog foods? Kelp, Flaxseed, Salmon Oil, and Vitamin E (there is not enough Vitamin E in any dog food, I don't think) Depends on size for amounts. These are all great for your dog.

    • try solid gold pet food on-line. my mastiff and rhodesian ridgeback like the beef and barley. sometimes i use a different formula from them, but the beef is what they like. see if they will send a sample. good luck.
