    • A treat is like a snack, it like candy for little kids, that why they use treat's when your teaching somthing to your dog, but dog food, is like supper for humans, it like chick and rice, it our daily nutrients for us.No you cannot, use dog treats as thier primary food, beause they might get too sick like kids can get really sick if they eat to much candy.Usally the treat's cost more, beause they come in smaller packages, while dog food comes in big bundles. In the end, you need both.

    • There isnt that much of a difference ! The only thing is a treat is like a little snack like a chocolate bar to us when food is like a full meal like dinner to us :) hope this helps !

    • you can't feed dogs dog treats as their food. it's to be used as treats in training exercises. dog food as more nutrients and vitamens for dogs that dog treats don't provide.

    • a treat is more like a chocolate bar to us and dog food is more like a healthy meal to us. I read somewhere that 1 and a half treats to a dog are like having 1 burger to us, i dont know if it's true or not.

    • In some ways manufactured treats are no different from low end dry foods. They have about the same protein content between 10% and 15%.The primary difference in a quality treat is that is has less fat than dry foods.A Milkbone brand treat IS a low fat dogfood in a treat size. In general a treat is focused more on flavor than food value.

    • Dog treats have little vitamins because they are used in moderation. Dog food has alot more vitamins and is easier to digest in a dogs stomach. Use dog food on a regular basis and use treats in moderation. [ like 1 treat every day ] do not use dog treats in dog bowl unless you want a sick unhealthy dog. Dog food generally cost more because it comes in bigger bags . dog treats cost less because they are in smaller bags.hope i helped, GigiQt:-D

    • Dog treats are "treats" for your dog to enjoy, they usually don't have much nutritional value. Like you have chocolate or sweets as a treat, there is not much food in them, but they taste nice. Dog treats are also often used for training, to encourage the dog to learn a trick or a command for something tasty at the end.Dog food is proper "food" which people give their dogs to keep them at a good weight. Like you eat dinner/lunch/breakfast it is to keep you fit and healthy and at a reasonable weight (unless you eat rubbish, if you do, it will make you heavier than you should be). Dog food is more important than dog treats.Use dog treats when training, or if your dog has been good.Use dog food when you need to give your dog a meal. You should not use dog treats as a dog food.Dog food usually costs more, but it really depends on the quality and the weight.~ Zarago ~

    • A "complete and balanced" pet food must be substantiated for nutritional adequacy by one of two means. The first method is for the pet food to contain ingredients formulated to provide levels of nutrients that meet an established profile. Presently, the AAFCO Dog or Cat Food Nutrient Profiles are used. Products substantiated by this method should include the words, "(Name of product) is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO (Dog/Cat) Food Nutrient Profiles." This means the product contains the proper amount of protein, calcium, and other recognized essential nutrients needed to meet the needs of the healthy animal. The recommendations of the National Research Council (NRC) were once used as the basis for nutritional adequacy, but they are no longer considered valid for this purpose. The alternative means of substantiating nutritional adequacy is for the product to be tested following the AAFCO Feeding Trial Protocols. This means that the product, or "lead" member of a "family" of products, has been fed to dogs or cats under strict guidelines and found to provide proper nutrition. These products should bear the nutritional adequacy statement "Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that (name of product) provides complete and balanced nutrition."http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=labelinfo101Treats have the following statement and are not necessarily nutritionally balanced.intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only.

    • Hi there! That's a great question. Dog treats don't always contain the nutritional value your dog needs from an actual meal, just as eating a bag of chips wouldn't contain the nutritional value a human would receive from breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's important that your dog's food include antioxidants, Omega-3 fatty acids, important digestive enzymes, and more, to keep your dog healthy! Most dog foods don't include as much of the "good stuff" as they should, so you may want to check out Dinovite dog supplements to ensure your dog gets all the nutrition he needs!
