How do I get Stray dog converted to Dog Food?

I just adopted a 2 year old beagle that seems to only want people food. I am going to attempt to mix regular dog food with some scraps and gradually reduce the scraps over the next few weeks. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions.Thanks to all who provided answers.I found a product called "Wellness" that my beagle really loves, and its supposed to be considered the "Health" food for your pets. I took about 1 table spoon and mixed it with the dry kibble, and it was all gone. I am convinced this is the right way to go, and in the next month gradually remove the can food all together and just have her on dry.

Beagles are beggers. No matter how hard you try to introduce dog food, he most likely not take it. So i'd say feed like carrots or something just so he doesnt go cold turkey. Then get him some high quality dog food. Cold turkey is best though. Dont cave in when he doesnt want his dog food. he wont starve wait it out.[i refered to your beagle as a him, since you did not state the sex]

That should work.I adopted a dog who only wanted people food. I got her a strong - smelling kibble called Biljac, and mixed first people food, and then soft food with it. Eventually she ate just kibble (which is better for their teeth).

try getting some samples of dog food from pet store .. good quality food samples.. when you see the dog eating one of the samples with more gusto than others go buy a bag and give only that food.P s try hand feeding the samples of food like giving a treat, sometimes a dog just needs to get used to a new feel and or taste of dog food.

easy, just don't feed them and leave only dog food out and when they get hungry enough and realize that you are NOT giving them people food then they will eat.

Don't feed it people food it can get sick and die. Buy different types of dog food to see which one he eats the best.
