    • Does it have a parasite? A stool sample will help determine that. Make sure it rests and it is hydrated. NO FOOD.! that will not help. I hope she feels better.

    • You really should have asked your vet this question - it's always better to get the diagnosis from the person who actually saw your animal, as opposed to a bunch of strangers on the internet. The atropine sulfate can be used for several different things:"Atropine injection is normally used to reduce salivary and bronchial secretions prior to anesthesia before surgery, and to manage abnormal bronchial secretions associated with diarrhea. It could also be used in managing abnormal heart beats, low blood pressure, vomiting caused by motion sickness, labored breathing and acute myocardial infarction. This medication is commonly applied to deal with instances of cholinergic poisoning like insecticide or mushroom poisoning. Atropine is normally known as an anticholinergic agent that acts on the central brain and its peripheries. It causes the relaxation of smooth muscles and nerves by hindering the action of acetylcholine, a naturally occurring chemical within the body."http://www.petcarerx.com/pcrx/HealthGuide/Medications/Medication.aspx?mid=10199The metronidazole is an antibiotic that can be used for a variety of infections.http://www.petcarerx.com/pcrx/ProductPages/Product.aspx?pid=10551&k=Metronidazole&fsearch=1Did he do a stool sample? It may be that he's trying to calm an overactive intestine (smooth muscle inhibitor) and knock out a lower GI infection (metronidazole).

    • Diarrhea with blood in it is is a sign that it is coming from the lower GI tract the likely location is the colon, stomach or small bowel.Diarrhea can be caused my a number of things: the dogs diet are very common cause but never rule out anything since it could also be giardia.Dogs are natural scavenger and can eat many indigestible substance like getting into the garbage, eating plants that are poisonous, little pieces of plastic or objects your dog may have found.Intestinal parasites are also common causes. Some dogs are not able to digest milk products they are lactose intolerant the milk products cannot be absorbed and remains in the bowel and holds water with it. Other things like spices, fats, eggs, corn, wheat this can be a very long list of food intolerance. It is good to know that Food Intolerance is not the same as a Food Allergy. So if she has had a change in diet this could be the problem. Its great your going to the vet. and I'm sure he/she will figure this out.A second oppion is also valuable if this medications she is on does not seem to work.Best Wishes.DP
