    • sorry but yes you have to look at both breeds and its possible to have all the good or all the bad from both,a neighbor has a male one which she calls a kitman (IDK) and he's just a big goof,he is aggressive if strangers come up or she's getting on to her kids, other than that he is smart, little clumsy, sneaky, but is great with her family and is really protective

    • The articles say you can't predict it because you can't predict it! You might come out with the best of both breeds or the worst, none of us can tell you what to expect.

    • No one is going to be able to totally predict what type of personality your dog will have. First, even purebred dogs vary widely in their characteristics. Second, I can say that both Akitas and Shepards make great dogs, but both can be aggressive if not trained and provided with ample exercise and attention. The behavioral "problems" exhibited by the breeds vary -- Shepards are herders and will nip a lot as puppies. They are also more willing to be trained by an owner and to do a job taught to them by the owner. Akitas tend to be more stubborn and tend to ignore commands even when they are completely trained. Akitas frequently have dominance issues. Third, a prior poster correctly pointed out that no one would mate these dogs - so there will likely be health problems - hip dysplasia, patella luxation, thyroid problems and eye problems are all characteristic of the breeds. Of course, if you rescue a young dog from a reputable rescue group, they can help you identify the stronger breed traits in your new companion - which is always helpful in mapping out a training program.
