So, my cat had a litter of 6 and now we only have 3 left at 2 weeks and 2 days old... :/ the losses have broken my heart but it is said to be natural. Anyways, I took them to the vet where 2 passed and the vet told me it was bc of lack of nutrition. So basically if I wouldn't have taken them then even the momma would have died. She is sickly skinny I have her on antibiotics and hardly eating but we are making progress. As for the kittens I have them in a laundry basket with a towel, momma and a heating pad.. I feel them about 2-3 ML every 1.5 hrs.Is this enough to survive?

    • Stephanie you are doing well but remove the heating pad as that's no good for the cat and her kittens, I should imagine the mom caught an infection so I'm pleased she's still alive and how wonderful she was to give birth to 6. Now stop feeling sad remove the pad and let mom rest, try to stay away from her but 4 times a day give her diced up chicken fish and rabbit, these will make her dry so lots of water for her please and then her milk might flow. that's mom dealt with now for the little ones. This link will help youhttp://www.wikihow.com/Feed-a-Newborn-KittenStephanie I have rescued cats for years and to keep 3 alive is wonderful so hey just carry on for another week then try a small tray of porridge made with milky water and see if the little ones get into it, never mind the mess as mom will clean them if they eat then you've won. Try scrambled eggs rice tiny pieces fish chicken and make sure it's well sloppy and minced and watch them get on.Dont forget to worm them later on and I wish the mother cat all the best.

    • What would have been enough is if you'd had your cat spayed so she wouldn't have had the kittens. Now that would have been a loving thing to do.Someone said you don't need a heating pad. Ignore that! A heating pad with a pillowcase around it turned on low is vital for baby kittens. I bought a whelping pad at the pet supply store which is made for exactly that so moms (dogs and cats) could give birth on it and the babies would stay warm. My very senior cat uses it to sleep on but that's what they are for is kittens and puppies.Feed your mother cat a quality kitten food. Kitten food has extra calories, vitamins, minerals, protein for growing bodies. There isn't a mother cat or any stray cat that could not benefit from those things so try kitten food for mom.Your vet should have told you how much and how often to feed the kittens so why are you asking here?http://www.2ndchance.info/orphankitten.htm
