    • Not until all the baby teeth are gone. Our poodle puppy had two "fang" teeth on the bottom growing next to each other. Vet looked and said one set was the baby teeth and they would fall out soon. They did.

    • You can answer this question by simply looking in your dog's mouth. The first puppy teeth to fall out are the incisors--the front teeth on top and bottom. Most of the time these teeth are actually swallowed during eating, so you will likely never see them. The canines, or larger fangs upper and lower, take a long time to break the gum. Sometimes you will actually see an adult tooth coming in right next to the puppy tooth, which shows no signs of coming out. Keep an eye on these teeth as sometimes the vet will need to remove them in the office. The small teeth behind these are the premolars--and they are usually the ones that fall out and you see. There are 3 on each side upper and lower. The molars, large teeth in the back, are the very last teeth to come out. Sometimes they become quite painful, get stuck, and will cause a pup to stop eating. Check those far back teeth every week.Puppy teeth are smaller and more translucent than adult teeth, so usually there is very little difficulty telling which ones are the adult teeth. If you check a pup's mouth each week, you will easily know if there is a problem that may require vet assistance, or if your pup has finished teething. Raw chicken wings and usually very helpful during teething. As long as they are raw, there is no reason to worry about choking or injury. The chicken skin will not make them sick if it is not cooked, and they can eat skin, bones, and all. Keeps them busy and chewing--makes those puppy teeth come out very fast. Just be sure to keep the dog on a towel as things can get a little messy as the wing gets warm.Do NOT try to take the wing away from your puppy to tease it.
