    • Generally, the initial vaccination schedule is 6 weeks, 12 weeks and 3 months, and then once a year from his first birthday. They also need Heartgard, to prevent heartworm disease. Frontline is also good.

    • Your pup should start having vaccines at 6 weeks of age and depending on what breed you have, those vaccines should be every 4 to 6 weeks until they are 16 to 18 wks old. Then they should be given as boosters once a year for life. They should also be de wormed on a regular basis and be on heart worm medication as well. If you have a pit or Rottie then they are more susceptible to parvo and require one more set of shots than a regular pup would need. Hope this answers your question.

    • Pups need the distemper vaccine at 8 weeks and then boostered at 12 and 16 weeks.Rabies is given at 12 weeks as well. You should ask your vet about vaccinating for lyme, lepto and kennel cough as they are not essential vaccines. Depending upon where you live or the amount of contact your dog has with other dogs determines if those vaccines are needed.Spay/neuter and heart worm test at 6 months of age. From that point distemper and rabies are given annually or every 3 years.Lyme is given annuallyKennel cough and lepto are bacterial so they are only good for 6 months.Heartworm test should be done once a yearHeartworm and flea and tick prevention should also be used monthly throughout the year
