    • You take her into the vet because they are the professional and can answer all of these questions for you instead of asking people online who really won't have the answer.

    • Dogs, just like humans, have a membrane that ruptures the first time they are penetrated. If the membrane is intact, she could not have ever had puppies. If the membrane is torn, then she was at least *bred* at some time, and it can be a safe assumption that she had a litter (whether or not they were born alive or survived past neonates is another story). However, this is an internal structure and vets usually will not going poking internal structures to satisfy curiosity. It may be easier to take a guess based on the prominence of her nipples and to have the vet do a quick palpitation to see how loose her pelvic girdle is. Aside from that, there is no sure-fire way that I am aware of. She is a rescue, much of her history will always be a question.
