Business cards pinned to bulletin boards are also very effective. If it is going to be a business, then treat it like one. • What you do need is a good liability insurance policy to cover you interacting with other people's dogs. You need coverage if the dog gets loose, gets hurt ... etc on your watch. It is a huge responsibility to care for other people's animals - and anything can happen.

    • I would just pass out the flyers in your neighborhood, ask the neighbors if they need your services, etc. Depending on your age too, if you are very young, some people might not trust you with their dogs. Build up a small clientele and then word of mouth will bring more customers to you if the current customers are satisfied.

    • It might depend on where you live. Where I am, as long as you don't lie and tell clients you're a professional, then you're fine. Maybe put amateur on your fliers or something if it worries you. I did a small dog-walking thing for my neighbors once and my aunt dog sits all the time, neither of us got any type of certification. I'm sure certification of some sort would help though, if you want to have a big business and not just help out once in the while for 50 bucks here and 10 there, know what I mean? Hope this helps and good luck!
