what is a good breed of dog for an active person?

boarder colies love to run! go for a biger do as little dogs would struggle to keep up.

I seriously think that small dogs are a lot more agile than big breads.I have a Pommeranian cross fox terrier and she can run and run for hours.It's also important to remember that if you go running everyday you need a dog that is easy to handle ( easy to pull back etc.)

Border collie all the way. I have a bvorder collie and I swear to god she never stops. You guys would be perfect for each other because you will tucker the dog out.

I would say either a Weimeraner or a Dalmatian for you. Dalmatians were bred to run alongside carriages for miles and miles and enjoy long runs. Mine is the perfect running buddy for me.Both these breeds are high energy and if raised with children from an early age, they are great family pets

american pitbull terriers...they have most energy than any other dog. and they are protective of children which would be great for your son. they are great companions and would stay by your side. they are extremely athletic.

German Shepherds are a good breed for an active person. I adopted my shepherd from a shelter and I wish I could harness her energy. She loves to go on walks. I also have cats and she gets along wonderfully with them. Hildy loves people and is incredibly social. I really lucked out with this great dog. I also had a German Shorthair Pointer. Great dog with lots of energy and great disposition.When you go to the shelter, they allow you to spend some time with the dog to see if you bond. You'll probably get a feel if that is the right dog for you. Good luck!
