why do people cut the tails of dogs like rottweiler,doberman etc.what happens if the tail is not cut?

If you ask me its purely for show. Nothing happens. I owned a rottweiler and chose not to have the tail cut, hey he did look different but so what.

its done for looks, it doesn't really serve a purpose just causes tha dog to loose their balance when tell is cut off

The tails of many breeds of dogs like doberman,rottweiler are cut whn they r very small.Why is it done?if its not done,what happens?

Mostly for looks..but if the dogs fight, which is awful, it can prevent breaks in the tail...it is a cruel practice.
