Can you train a German shepherd to track game such as feral hogs?

Can a German shepherd be used/ trained to track down game like feral hogs, turkey, or any other type of animal.

WHY on earth would anyone waste their time & effort when DOZENS of breeds are better suited?You do know what the word SHEPHERD means,right?

Feral hogs are vicious, nasty creatures. You'd really be better off getting a hound such as a Catahoula that is bred for that type of thing. And in fact, hog dogs don't hunt by themselves, because one dog can't keep a hog at bay if it attacks. And it will attack.

Any breed can be taught to track by someone who knows how to teach it, and that most definitely includes intelligent breeds like any of the shepherds. My Belgian shepherds have started tracking and they love it! Yes, yoiur GSD can be taught - find yourself some tracking classes because you need to learn how to teach.
