Backstory: I had a boxer for about 6 years and he had to be put down. :( I just got a new dog from the shelter about a week ago. The second day we got him, my mom decided it would be a good idea to take him back because he's half pit bull/lab. He's about 1.5 yrs. She thinks she's in danger because pit bulls can be unpredictable (reading too many news stories maybe). This dog has no aggression problems what so ever. He does have scars that look like they're from fighting though. The vet said he could've been a bait dog. I have tried VERY hard to convince her that he's not a bad dog. If he was dangerous he wouldn't have been adoptable. If he was aggressive he would not let me take his food/toys away. He wouldn't lay on his back all the time and let me rub his belly. He wouldn't let the other dog in the cage jump all over him at the shelter. I have run out of ideas and I really want to keep this dog because he's very nice, lovable, and learns very quickly. PLEASE someone help!

    • I have 2 pitbulls and they are the most loving dogs ever. However they tend to be very protective which make awesome guard dogs. The media displays only bad stories and never good ones about this breed and if your dog was dangerous he wouldn't have been adopted out to you. Can you take him for a walk and him not get aggressive towards other people and dogs? Im sure you'll be able to keep him if you show her that he's a sweet dog she's just been told too many stories.

    • There's tons of reading material and stories out there proving that pit bulls are harmless, sweet, loving dogs if socialized correctly. Pits aren't born aggressive, it's something that's trained into them. They're naturally very sweet. Mine couldn't hurt a fly. Google pit bull groups and try showing her some reading material that contradicts the stereotype. Here's a fun fact, Pit bulls are called nanny dogs in Europe because they're so good with kids and like to watch over them while they sleep and play. They're considered excellent family dogs in England.

    • Nothing you can dothey dog legally belongs to your mother and your mother rightfully wants to get rid of it. The dog doenst belong to you, it belongs to her and she want to get rid of it. it doenst matter why, he owns the dog and you are a minor so you need to realize you have no say in this at all
