    • You need to decide which you want to do. If he is going to be a service dog, this likely means the dog will not live with you - a service dog lives with a person with a disability and helps him out. If you want to raise him to do therapy, that means he would be your dog, but you would take him places, like nursing homes and hospitals, to provide therapeutic visits. If that is what you want, then connect with an agency, like TDI. You can google them, and they will be happy to help you out.

    • A puppy cannot be a service dog. That requires 18-24 months of advanced training to perform tasks that mitigate the owner's disability and how to work in spite of distraction in a wide variety of venues. After two years of training, he would no longer be a puppy. You would also have to be disabled to qualify to own a service dog.A therapy dog is trained, tested, registered and insured so that it will be invited to visit folks in hospitals and nursing homes to cheer them up. Puppies also cannot be therapy dogs because dogs must be at least a year old to take the test. A person with a therapy dog has no special rights beyond those of other pet owners with respect to where they can take their dogs. Even in hospitals and nursing homes, they must have permission from the facility before visiting.http://deltasociety.orghttp://tdi-dog.orghttp://therapydogs.com

    • you cannot "register" him as a service dog. A service dog is a dog that is specifically trained to assist his DISABLED owner.Therapy dogs only go to places like hopsitals and nursing homes to provide comfort. They are not allowed in stores or restraunts. Find a therapy dog group in your area..http://www.tdi-dog.org/http://www.therapydogs.com/

    • Service dogs do task/work to mitigate their handlers disability. If you are not disabled, you can not have a service dog.Therapy dogs are pets that do public service by going to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, etc... to do therapy work. Therapy dogs are not allowed in non pet friendly public places unless specifically invited to do therapy work. To be trained as a therapy dog, it is best to go through a program like TDI or Delta Society. Most will not certify a dog as a therapy dog until they are at least a year old. The dog will need to pass a therapy dog test. The first thing you need to do is get your dog vaccinated, socialized, and in obedience classes.

    • A therapy dog is not a service dog. Only way you could have the pup become an assistance type service dog is if you yourself were disabled. I doubt you would want to raise this personal pet to donate to a program to train out and place with a disabled handler. Therapy Dog International and Delta have programs to help you test and certify a well mannered pet to be able to do therapy dog visitation programs. These are often at nursing homes or hospitals . Plus they usually have volunteer insurance coverage for those visitation programs .
