My Dog just broke his paw what should i do?

My brother was chasing him areound and step on his paw. We think that it's broken because Tocky(My dog) is not putting any weight on it. Should I take it to the vet, or is there an alternative way to treat it at home? I put some ice on it.

Please answer ASAP, there's a cute puppy's paw on the line. Thank You.

This is such a stupid question. Common sense would tell you that you need to take the pup to the vet.

take him to the vet, u shouldnt treat a broken foot at home becuz it might not heal correctly and it will affect his walking ablities, and can get an infections. ice it for now and take it to the vet TODAY

Take him to the vet. You could make it worse for him if you try to treat it yourself. And if you leave it untreated and you get reported then you could face a fine and/or jail time for cruelty.

Vet. Now. There is no remedy for an X-ray and a cast if needed. Keep it iced till you can get to the vet.

He may not have broken it. Is he letting you handle the foot? If he is letting you touch his foot and play with his toes, he should be ok. If this is the case but in an hour he does not walk on it still, take him to the vet.If he is in a lot of pain when you touch his foot, he needs to go to the vet ASAP.

well if u have any one around that can wrap the dogs paw (and i mean near ur house or in ur neighborhood) then do that if not take him to the vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should definitely take him to the vet. Yes, keep the ice on. Don't disturb the paw. If there is any broken bones that are protruding, they can poke a hole in a muscle and make things a lot worse. In this case, the paw will never heel. This is why you should not treat it at home. It may be not broken, but it is still better to check.

My dogs have had thier legs and or paws beat up before and refused to walk on them but they were not broken. So, I would say that it might not be broken but a simple visit to the vet can resolve that possibly without even an Xray and just a docotor visit. If it is broken he needs to be at the vet anyways,
