How can we stop my dog chewing his leg?

My dog hates hot sauce. It may burn his leg a little but he won't chew on it.

Try bitter apple or bitter lemon. Went to health food store and bought some pure unsweetened cranberry juice. It was pretty awful, it might work, too.

Wow that's kinda strange but I'm just making a suggestion, put medical tape around it (ya know the stuff that the doc puts around yer arm when it's broken). insten of chewing his leg he'll chew the tape. that's some strange dog u got der. (no offence) bring him 2 the vet!

Put something like a cast on his leg. So he can't bite it. But not a cast I don't know if you have ever herd of this stuff u put on a horses leg. But is helps like if they have a broken leg. It might make him stop chewing on his leg.

Give your dog the tasty chew with chicken and beef flavour on a regular basis. He will start loving it , chewing it and he will forget chewing his own leg. Be diplomatic with your dog.

try a cone type collar for a short while , if not ask your vet for advise

Go to the pet store and tell them your situation. They will tell you what you can do. They might tell you to buy a non toxic spray for puppies. You spray things that you don't want your puppy to bite or put his mouth on and your puppy will learn not to bite or put his mouth on those things because the spray is bitter. The spray will not harm your dog's health but it will cause your dog to foam at the mouth. You can also go to the yet and I am sure they will also tell you what you can do. They will probably also look at your dog's leg, to make sure it is not infected, injured, etc.

oh my god, how can he eat himself,..i'd have his teeth taken out,..but check with a vet first to make sure he dosent have an infection in his leg that is driving him crazy,..so strange.oh yes and how stupid can you be to put mustard and washing liquid on his raw wound ??dont do stupid tricks like that, the dog needs rescuing from u !!

Go the vet and ask for an e-collar. Its and cone-shaped collar that keeps dogs from being able to lick or chew any part of their body. Keep it on the dog until the habit subsides. In the meantime give him alot of love and attention so it doesn't seem like a punnishment.

they have some stuff at petsmart made for problems like ur it gives it a scent wich the dog will hate and the dog is supposed to stop and if it doesnt then get some training classes

put a lampshade on his head that way he cant bite it!!

i would take him to the vet and they will probably put a lampshade thing round his neck .it worked for my cat !!

what age is the spaniel and have u tried takin him tae the vet, have you checked for fleas mite and ticks as these can all cause a skin irretation.

maybe you could take him to the vet and get him check out b\c they'll know whats wrong with him.

Well maybe something is making him itch you shoud go to the vet anything is possible

get him checked at vet. Some liver problems can cause extree itchiness which makes dogs bite themselves. Also vet will have best suggestions on how to stop it.

Check to see if your dog has,(fleas)!If its not that then take it to a local vet, to get him/her checked out,this is something you need to take care of right away.
