Smallest dog breed that is of a safe size?

I DONT want a "designer dog"I KNOW teacups don't existI just want a healthy dog breed that will be small as an adult. I'm not a fan of big dogs.And I won't be carrying the baby in my purse!I'm just a loving owner searching for a healthy bitty pup! =]Thank you all!Best answer will be tough =]

You can get healthy Chihuahuas and Yorkshire terriers - just buy from a legitimate breeder that breeds to the breed standard for size. You can find the breed standards at www.akc.org.

look at the toy breeds on akc.org any of these can be healthy dogs.. none of them are "designers"Seek a reputable breeder who is showing and doing genetic health testing to assure an healthy dog! Use AKC's breeder referral to help you select a breeder.

I have Yorkies.............NORMAL YORKIESThey are very sturdy dogs. Originally bread for ratting. My biggest girl is 11 lbs

Shih-Tzu is a great breed its small but not too small so u dont have to carry it in a purse and they love to walk.

I like west highland white terriers. Actually I like almost all the terriers but Westies are one of my favorites. They are small but not too small. I have one and she is great! ***Bye the way I just took that quiz and it was cool!***
