    • yes you can train a dog 12 weeks old. i help out with the guiding eyes for the blind organization (dogs that help visually impared persons). i get puppies for about two weeks and we have to train them, like going up stairs, no nipping or bitting and most importantly, house training. the way we do this is simple. take the dog outside right when it wakes up, aprox. 15 min after every meal and before it goes to bed. when we take the pups outside, we have a code word like "get busy.". we say this when they are outside in the grass and say it in a calm nutral voice. stay outside and continually say that until it finishes its buisness. then, in a high piched happy voice, prais the dog (do NOT use treats for this). rub the dog, pat it and praise. then go inside and continue you daily routine. if your dog has a accident inside: if you see it happening in that moment, pick the dog up (does not matter if it is still going) and bring it outside and do "get busy". say "no" as you are picking the dog up to go outside. if you find an accident that has already happened, no not repremand your dog. he/ she will have no idea what you are yelling at them for. just clean it up and try to get it right the next time. pups can be great and a handful so i hope this helps!! good luck!
