    • From a shelter or rescue you're looking at about $150 or less. From a reputable breeder you're looking at about $800 or more, I consider $1,000 about average for a pet quality dog of a Boxer's size.Anyone charging more for any color is scamming you. There's no such thing as a "rare" color simply ones that are considered acceptable in the ring, and ones that are considered disqualifications. For reputable breeders you can contact the American Boxer Club for recommendations:http://americanboxerclub.org/Lists of local animal shelters can be found here:http://www.animalshelter.org/shelters/states.aspAdoptable animals can be found here:http://www.petfinder.com/index.htmlAnd if you google "Boxer rescue (your state)" you can easily find boxer rescues that help in your location.Add:A well bred dog from a reputable breeder is going to cost more than $500. Individuals that are able to sell dogs at those prices (and these are the same ones that are advertising in your local newspaper) are backyard breeders (1). These dogs do not come from lines that have been shown or worked to prove the dogs are of breeding quality, nor have the parents gone through genetic health testing to be sure they aren't passing anything on to the pups, and over all they are not going to be high quality and healthy dogs (2).If you're going to a breeder, don't support backyard breeders who are contributing to the over population of dogs issue, either get a shelter dog or go to a reputable breeder (3).

    • I bought my boxer pup for £500 and found her on the breeders website www.champdogs.co.uk, she has a brindle coat. Reds are probably the most popular and maybe slightly more expensive, one in the same litter went for £600. Nobody seems to want whites, which is a shame because I think they are adorable, so they might be cheaper. When you have picked your breeder make sure you can meet the parents of the pup as they will show a lot about your pups personality. If you want to speak to my breeder she specialises in boxers and its a family run business so the pups are well socialised from an early age - its Sianroma Boxers (you can find it on champdogs). Also all the pups are kennal club registered and you will get a family tree certificate and a starter pack.

    • Contact your nearest breed club and ask them the average price of a weel bred health tested puppy. You can find a list of breed clubs at the bottom of this page:http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/45A reputable breeder will charge less for one which is white or mismarked - prbably with an endorsed registration to discourage breeding from a dog who doesn't fit the breed standard.Only buy from a breeder who has heart checked his stock.
