I have a puppy of 4 and1/2 months female. Should she be spayed at 6 months, if I am not letting her have puppies and should she have one season first? Or is it better to let her have one litter of puppies ?

yes, its safer for them, it can prevent them from getting some diseases and cancers. if you want them to have puppies u have to wait 2 years, so during heat u have to keep them inside, etc..
Yes get her spayed I reccomend getting every animal spayed or neutered. If you dont get her spayed now, she could face serious health issues. There is no need to let her have puppies UNLESS you have completely educated yourself on breeding your pet. Good luck!
I just read the most horrible thing about shelters, and how the dogs life is after going there. 50% of all dogs in shelters are pure breds, with papers. Most shelters are so full that the dog only has 72 hrs to find a home. After that they are uthanized. It is a huge problem. You can help with this by not breeding your dog. Love her for being a member of your family, and treasure her. You do not know what will come of those puppies, they may end up in shelters or breed and add even more dogs to shelters. It is so sad. I say fix her. The younger, the easier it is on them.
She should be spayed. To let her have a litter of puppies is unnessacary beacase there are a lot of dogs in the pound that need homes. Congrats on you new puppy and have fun with her.
If you don't plan on raising and selling pups, I'd spay her at 6 mo.She doesn't need to have pups first or have first season. (If she is small breed, could have first season before 6 mo) Chance of her mating with undesirables is high and if small breed could be bred by bigger dog and end up in trouble--like c-section or worse. Spay and neuter is humane thing to do. Both my dogs are "fixed." Female never had a season, and she was fine.
Dogs go through a heat which will last up to three weeks twice a year. So if you do not want to clean up that mess we use a diaper and maxi pad it is the easiest way. Why do I tell you all this because if you have her spayed she will not get her periods again I Know that everyone always want to breed their dog at least once I have an English bull dog that I would love to breed but I can't find a male. Anyway it is your choice and a decision only you can handle.
