A high shedder crossed with a low shedder?

If you got a dog that was a Airedale terrier (low shedder) crossed with an Akita (high shedder), do you think the resulting puppy will lean more toward a lot of shedding or little shedding?

    • You'll get a coat that sheds and crossing two coat types often results in a grooming nightmare because you get a mix of two different coat textures that require different grooming techniques. Since its a mix there's no way to tell how much it will shed. Every pup in the litter will be different.

    • No way to tell, it would vary with each puppy in the litter. That's why "Goldendoodles" and the like are not 'nonshedding' dogs since they are mixed with low and high shedding dogs. You could ask the person you're getting the dog from if they have noticed any difference in the coat types as of yet.

    • there's no guarantee on what kind of coat the puppy will have.. it could be a low shedder, or a high shedder..it could be a high shedder like an akita, but have the curly coat that traps the loose hairs.. which results in a coat that matts terribly. Many times mixes like this result in a dog that has a coat that's a nightmare to take care of.

    • You are seriously asking this? You get a MUTT that could look like, have the health or health problems of, or shed like EITHER/OR/BOTH breeds involved. It's a crap shoot when you mix breeds. That's why intelligent, ethical, responsible people DON'T do it!!!
