    • I'll check out your link in a minute-- but in case the info isn't listed there... is there a list of cities/ states/ other places where these breeds are banned? I want to make sure I never move to one of those places!! PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!! :)

    • THNKS FOR THE LINK AND LIST, I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO POST THIIS!! !can you believe half of the dogs on here on on here?st bernard???fox terrier?? omga freaking golden retriever???a pug???wtf. really. None of these dogs should be one here. instead of a dog breed ban list it should read "these are the people who are not allowed to own animals."period!

    • Nice...really nice. And the only dog I have been bitten by isn't on there either. I think poms are out to get us might as well make this list an even 100 dogs. I can't understand why golden retrievers are on their either. So if your dog is a mix and has any of these breeds in them are those going to be illegal/restricted too??? Morons!

    • Wow, seriously.GREAT DANES!? Goldens?! Mastiffs?! Labs?! Jeez, whats next?We should just all move to an island and take our 'vicious' BSL banned dog breeds and throw a party.

    • Oh my GOD run!!!! There's a killer Boston Terrier on the loose! Run for your lives while you still have ankles!!!!!!WTF?? Why not ban parrots, they give more serious bites!Or horses, you could fall and hit your head!Or cars- we all know how dangerous they are!Or McDonald's- the cholesterol will get ya!Or breathing- the W administration is going to get us all killed with the dirty air....This BSL is the DUMBEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!

    • After looking at that link, I'm glad the situation isn't that bad here in England - though it's getting there. There's whispers of repeating the 2000 ban on pitbulls for Rottweilers, and there's certainly been a big media frenzy for reporting attacks by rotties lately. It makes me insane. Is it really such a difficult concept to grasp: it's the owner's fault, not the dogs! There should be legal requirements for owning a dog, like taking to puppy and training classes for proper socialisation - and not using dogs as guards! There's just no need for it over here, and it's irresponsible. All that guard dogs do is get put to sleep for doing what they've been taught to do - or stabbed or shot by people who really want to break in to property. A friend of mine has the most wonderful doofus of a rottie, he's such a fabulous dog the idea of him being ordered to be put to sleep is unbearable - and absurd.Chalice

    • Dogs, like people should be dealth with on each individual case. They are not all the same!!! I have a chow mix and a family member has a bull terrier and they are sweet, wonderful dogs and part of our families. Thank for the info.

    • some of the nicest , best breed of dogs are on there. i have owned rottweilers and spaniels and labradors before and they are very sweet dogs. they just need proper training like any other dog. my neighbor has a great dane and he is awesome and my aunt has a pitbull and boxer mix and hes so calm and gentle. soon there will be no more breeds to ban . these dogs shouldnt be banned it should be bad owners. whats next banning chihuahuas?

    • Wow, you guys must really have to do your research before you move anywhere! I'm english, our banned list is 4 breeds: Pitbull TerriersJapanese TosasDogo ArgentinosFila BrazileirosThere is danger of it increasing though as Dublin in Ireland has introduced new restrictions on 11 breeds. Hoping UK won't follow!

    • First of all, this story is a bunch of crap. I watch the news nightly and have yet to hear anything about any restrictions on any of these breeds. There hasn't even been anything in the news on Pitt Bulls. Many city shelters will not adopt out Pitt Bulls, but that is different. There is no way that you can effectively ban a breed. Not even cities like Detriot, New York, Phoenix, or Houston, whom all have animal police shows on animal planet, have the man power to go around and say, "You have this dog, and it is banned in this city, you have to get rid of the dog or move." Its not going to happen people. This is more than likely to show people the importance of Spay and Neuturing your pet. That seems to be a hot topic on this forum, people don't want to spay or neuter their pets. Ok, I can respect your decision. You don't want to get your pet fixed, for what ever reason, put tlets look at something here. Dogs can breed as early as 6 months and give birth about 2 months later, so that is 8 months. After winging, that is about 9 months. Now if we went with back yard breeder standands of wing them and breed them, then you could get 2 litters inside 18 months. Lets say that each dog has a litter of 6. SO at 18 months when the first original dogs is finished winging its second litter, the first litter as already given birth as well. But instead of having just 6 puppies, you now have 42 puppies. The first dog had another 6 and the orginal litter as each now had 6, so that is seven litters, and 6 puppies a litter, for a total of 42 puppies. That is in 18 months of life. So lets look a head 6 more months. The orginal dog had 6 more puppies, the orginal litter as also had litters of their own, that is another 36, the second litter form the original dog has alos had a litter, thats another 36. And the first litter from the first litter of the orginal dog each have had litters. That is like 216 more puppies. So inside of 2 1/2 years, one dog that someone did not spay is now responsible for 284 other dogs. Yeah, maybe some people will be responsible and get their dogs fixed so that will cut down on the total. The numbers can be less, or more, but if you also factor in that it cost about $820 dollars per year to care for one dog, and I base this on my own German Shepherds, $420 for food, $200 for flea and tick medication, $100 for heartworm treatment, and another $100 for yearly check up and shots. So that means that that one dog is now costing people a total of $232,880 a year. There are plenty of dogs out there without everyone in the world wanting to breed their dog. Every year, millions, that is right, millions of dogs around the world are put to sleep because there are not enough homes. So the next time that you or anyone else wants to post a question on here about YOUR right not to have your dog spayed or neutered, think about those other 284 dogs that may come because you do not spay or neuter your dog, and now are sitting in a shelter and ask yourself, did I have the right to bring them into this world just to have them put to sleep? There si no shortage of dogs in the world, and as much as you people try to make it sound, there will not be a shortage of dogs in 10 years either.

    • where are the poodles and cocker spaniels????and Miami and Denver have a few breeds on their ban list, i'm guessing this is probably a compilation of breeds that are banned from not only cities but apartment complexes as well.Bruce: Miami Dade County euthanizes around 300 siezed pitt bulls a day. Its not effective but it's there. If it were effective they wouldnt STILL be killing all these dogs, but they do it none the less. There is also a Miami Animal Cops show... fogot to mention that one.

    • I just looked at your site and am unimpressed. There is nothing at all official about it-looks to be a lot of political propaganda designed to rouse people's ire. Where is the list of which municipalities are banning all these breeds? You would think a site with this long a list compiled would have some facts attached.I am wondering if you should start posting in the politics section instead.http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affecting_our_pets/dangerous_dogs.html

    • Thanks for the info, that is alot of freaking dogs that have been banned, unfortunatly Oklahoma hasnt banned any yet and legislature has treid i think last year was his 3rd or 4th time to ban the PITBULL Breed only what about the others, state has denied the request everytime since it will be singled out and discriminated amonst the other breeds, another attempt that the legistlature tried was to ban all the aggressive breeds but was later found out all he was after was to just get the pitbull out, so right now no banning has occured, But the city of lawton has made the code even stricter, here is some infoCity toughens rules for petsBY KIMMCCONNELLSTAFF [email protected] Lawton City Council unanimously agreedon Tuesday to revise the city’s animal ordinance, requiring higher licensing fees for pets that havenot been sterilized. The ordinance, which will go into effect in 30days, also would require casual breeders — thosewith one litter per year — to pay $250 for a Breeding/Advertising/Transfer (BAT) permit.Supporters say the ordinance is an attempt tocontrol animal overpopulation and lessen thenumber of animals euthanized in Lawton annually.Critics say the ordinance is penalizing responsiblepet owners, forcing them to bear the expensesof irresponsible pet owners. Others areconcerned about the permit and licensing expensesand owners who will deal with the new lawby dumping pets in the county. The ordinance’s new fee structure calls for a$100 permit for the first year and $75 per yearthereafter for animals that have not been sterilized. The $250 BAT permit would allow one animalto produce one litter per year. Animals whichare sterilized would be assessed a $15 licensingfee with free annual renewals.Scott Griggs, a local veterinarian, said spayingand neutering has been encouraged in Lawtonfor at least 20 years but has not been successfulin reducing the unwanted animal population.“We are still impounding the same number ofanimals,” he said.Public Works Director Jerry Ihler said the cityanimal shelter has handled 7,350 animals peryear for the last decade and has euthanized an averageof 4,500 of those animals And oklahoma has stated banning a breed that has not a record of attacks and kills would be a violation of animal crueltyBut again Thanks for that list it will come in handyglad your also on top of things great workA.P.
