What is a normal weight for a dachshund?

He's not a mini, just an average dachshund. He weighs about 25 lbs, and he looks really fat.

Well a normal weight for a Dachsund would be what ever a fucking dog weighs just dont give it a whole lot of your fatty ass foods k?

A standard Dachshund can range from 16-30+ pounds, so just knowing the weight of a Dachshund isn't a good way to see if they are overweight. Depending on the individual Dachshund, 25 pounds could be the perfect healthy weight, or extremely overweight. If you can't easily feel his ribs or see a noticeable "waist" when you look at him from above, he probably does need to lose some weight. If you still aren't sure, have your vet evaluate him. If he is overweight, please take it seriously. Extra weight isn't a good thing for any dog, but extra weight on a Dachshund puts a lot of strain on the spine, which is already prone to issues.

What do you mean by an "average" dachshund?Do you have a mini or a standard? or the "tweenie"?A mini dachshund is 6-11 pounds by 1 year of ageA standard dachshund is 16-32 pounds by 1year of age.The "tweenie", which is an unrecognized size is just that, a dog that falls somwhere inbetween the breed standard for the mini & standard dachshund.That said, my Standard Dachshunds are: Male: 22 pounds, Female 18 pounds.
