How do they train dogs to be guard dogs?

I've never had my dogs trained because I dont believe in leaving my dog with some stranger and then they bond and crap. I don't like the idea of that. Anyways my dogs are mean to intruders but I never trained them. So what are they doing that I'm obviously not but its also working for me?

Yu dont actually need to train them when they feel that someone is going to hurt you then they WILL protect you! Trust me they do some incredible things even when you think they wouldnt!!

Ding Ding Ding, do we have a winner?There are certain dog breeds that naturally have the instinct to be a good guard dog...and others do not, and its actually very hard if not impossible to "train" a dog to be this way if they aren't naturally.

you are not being pack leader or setting any boundaries. they think they own you and rule the roost. i'd stop that behavior pronto..it only leads to bad things.. dogs should NEVER be allowed to show aggression in any form. cop dogs, guard dogs etc...are trained..trained to perform certain tasks on command. And they are NOT trained to be aggressive or in aggressive states of minds. If they were aggressive, they could not break on command or even acknowledge or obey commands period. its simply a series of trained maneuvers dogs are told to do at a certain time.

in the wild you would be considered part of the pack. to you, they are probably your babies and to them you are the alpha female of the pack and that they have to protect you and your home by instinct. i would take them to obedience classes so that they can protect you and your home correctly and you won't be taken to court for a dog bite suit.

Why wouldn't you want your dogs to bond with a stranger? Dogs need to know NOT to be wary of strangers, and the only way they can do this is through proper socialisation with strangers. By being mean to intruders, your dogs aren't guard dogs, they are just aggressive dogs. I suggest you either spend the money to teach your dogs real protection, under a professional, or go to an obedience class to solve this aggression problem completely, before your dogs bite a guest or a kid that runs into your yard.
