    • It depends on which shelter. My local shelter charges $120 for a kitten, which is actually very cheap because it includes the cat, the shots, a microchip, the spay/neuter, and a bag of food. The shelter also gives you 100% free vet care for 1 month after you adopt the cat. They charge $75 for an adult cat and $50 for a senior, which includes the same things. My local shelter is also currently doing 2-for-the-price-of-1 where you adopt one cat and there is no adoption fee for the second. Most likely you can find out online if you google your local shelter's name, or check on petfinder.comThank you for adopting from the shelter!

    • Shelters all have different fees. The shelter here charges $85.00, which includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, and a microchip. Contact your local shelter to find out what they charge and what is included in the fee.

    • It depends on the shelter. Most are $50-100. This usually includes the first set of shots, deworming, and a spay/neuter ($200 value). The shelters around here are actually having sales for Christmas. : ( Just horrible thinking that these people are advertising animals as gifts, knowing that they may end up outside or back in a shelter if they are not wanted by the gift recipient.

    • It depends on the shelter and what is included in the cost of the adoption. Some shelters, it is just the cat and you have to have all disease tests, the initial shots and spay or neuter done yourself. Those shelters usually have lower adoption fees, but it will cost you a lot at the first vet visit. Other shelters will have higher adoption fees (ranging from $100-250) that can include the spay or neuter surgery, feline HIV and Feline Leukemia tests, flea and tick treatment, vaccinations and micro-chipping. You really need to call around to your local shelters and ask them what their fees are and what is included.

    • I adopted mine from PetSmart (SCAT - Stray Cats Adoptions of Texas) and it cost me $50 (he was neutered and had his shots). The most expensive one I saw was $75.00. Sometimes customers donate (sponsor) money towards an animal to help them be rescued.
