Parrots - What is the best way to move parrots from one state to another?

Im moving across the United States - what is the best way to get by parrots to their new location?

We moved ours in their cages in the car... we moved with them more than once so here's what we did- in the winter when we parked at the motel we covered their cages with an electric blanket and plugged it in at the motel. They all had outside outlets to use. We also had a small extention cord. In the summer we would mist them occasionally with a water bottle. We kept them covered with a sheet but left it open at the bottom so they would be shaded but still get air circulation.
