How long to dogs remain in shelters before they are euthanized?

I live in Los Angeles county (CA) and I was just curious how long days can remain in a shelter before they are euthanized. Statistics throughout different states/counties would be beneficial.

5 days to one week with a few exceptions out there that hold them for 10 days.

This depends on the shelter. Your best bet would be to contact your local humane society, they would know what the procedures are at the shelters in your area.

It depends on which shelter. There are different types of shelters our there. IF it's you'r local pound then probably like a week or so, which is why people should adopt dogs!

I thinks it's awfull. Thank goodness animals are never put down here unless they're terminlly sick and suffering.
