why does my dog pant so much?

i have a lab/springer 7yr old male with short coat.he drinks alot of water but still seems to pant all the time.

How hot is it where you are?If it is hot, that is why he is panting. If it is not hot it could be a medical problem or he could be out of shape.

My parents have 2 springers and they are mad! They pant all the time when on the lead so they bought a different on which is more like a harness that fastens under their belly rather than round their necks.

because he is hot dog use panting to cool themselves like humans do with sweating it also makes them look thirsty and they can be when they are hot so he pants as he is hot and or thirsty just give him a bowl of water and make sure there is shade and your house is not to hot

It could be that he is too hot or is unwell... i would suggest to take it to a vet just for a check up.

Nothing to worry about. My lab and my golden also pant a lot. Dogs don't have sweat glands, so panting is a way to release the heat.

Could be a liver problem if he's needing to re-hydrate a lot, get him to a vet to check him out.

dogs dont sweat-so thye pant so thats probs why-thye do it when its quite hot.
