How do I keep my cat from waking me up at 3 am?

My cat comes into my room at 3 am and startes climbing on all of my stuff. I yell at him and he stops for about five minuets and starts again. He never did this until I finished school and was home more. He stops when my grandma wakes up for work to feed him. He has food in his dish so I dont think it is for food. I pick him up and put him in bed with me and he doesn't like it. HELP!

Get a dog.

buy a cage and put a cat bed in it and close the cage so he doesn't bother ANYone. people need their beauty sleep.

Close your door when you go to bed.

Get a water bottle and squit it with water every time the cat wakes you up at 3 AM. The cat will soon associate getting hit with an unwelcome squit of water with waking you up at 3 AM and will soon stop.Using a squit of water is also good for getting a cat to not walk on a counter or somewhere you do not want them to be. Unless you have an unusual cat that likes water, but those are rare.But that should work. Just keep it by your bed, try not let the cat see you squit him/her.

Cats are nocturnal. Lucky for me I have three to keep eachother occupied at this time (mine get crazy around 4ish) Hes just bored and wants attention. I'd say close your door, but if I do that to mine, they will dig at the door and that gets me more irritated. So I suggest get used to it Or get him a playmate. Make sure hes got toys to play with. Though one of mine sometimes thinks its neccessary to play fetch in the middle of the night.

Shut the door, wouldn't that make life easier

Unfortunately kitties are naturally nocturnal. This means that it is completely natural for your cat to be exploring the house in the middle of the night. Mine does it all the time and I have learned to sleep through it. I will say that if I run him around the house, and play with him a ton before bed, he gets more tired and sleeps through the night. Also, I leave the blinds in my room cracked open so he can sit on the bed and stare outside all night. It keeps him really busy. If you find this doesn't work, I am afraid you may have to shut your bedroom door at night. Good luck!

Close your bedroom door when you sleep. That will keep him out!!!

My cat does the same thing and I have two more. My cat is somewhat old, 12years old. What I have done is gotten and grabbed the cat and smack her on her paws and tell her NO! This usually works for a couple of days. Another thing ever think of letting the cat outside maybe it needs to work off some energy.

Try playing with your cat BEFORE you go to bed, then while you are sleeping, he will be tired too!

Does he have a playmate? Perhaps he is bored and is coming to you hoping you will give him something to do.

put a bowl of milk before u go to bed,let it sleep with u,or make sure it is ok

get him a kitty condo to climb, some toys, and shut your door.
