How often does a dog bleed and why do they keep shedding?

If a dog bleeds, how many months will you have to wait until it bleeds again? We have an 11-month-old SIberian Husky and a 3-year-old Alaskan Malamute. Does the bleeding have something to do with their shedding?

Well occasional hormones can affect the coat, but basically I'd suggest shedding has more to do with climate and perhaps feed, than seasons. Bitches come into season roughly twice a year, the norm being at 6 monthly intervals although mine went 8 months between their seasons, usually.As far as shedding is concerned, we have caused a lot of trouble with this when we keep our dogs in central heating/air-conditioning. So their systems become somewhat confused. Usually the seasonal changes mean a dog will shed it's Winter coat in the Spring, and then again at the end of the Summer into Fall, before the Winter coat starts to grow again. And good food means a healthy coat and skin.I urge you to get your b itch spayed in a couple of months from her first season. At least you won't have to bother with all that again, and in any case, the more seasons a b itch is allowed to have, the greater the risk of her developing mammary or uterine cancer later on.
