Our cat got attacked by a dog yesterday. The vet said that she had a tear in her diaphram and that her heart has moved out of place. She also has a fever D;The vet suggested that we put her to sleep but she seemed happy and lively when she seen us, so we decided to bring her home for the night to look after her at home. The vet didnt seem to think she wasn`t going to last much longer. The vet said she needed surgery to confirm that our cat had a hole in her diaphram but also said that she probably wouldnt survive the operation.Does anyone know what we can do to get her fever down and make her feel a little better? (:We really dont want to have her put to sleep :(

    • My sisters friend had to put her cat to sleep and was crying very much. You should google how to lower the fever of a cat. Either that or call the vet and ask how to.I hope this at least helped a little.

    • The cat is going to die in absolute agony because it cannot breath properly and it's heart is being squeezed by in the hole in the diaphragm. If you love this animal put it down. This is not an injury that can heal itself.

    • The only way this can be fixed is through surgery. Did your vet do an x-ray and see the heart up in the lung area or displaced? She will probably at some point start to have trouble breathing which will probably get worse over time. Cats are very good at hiding their feelings and act like everything is okay almost to the point where it is too late to help them. For the fever you need to check with the vet - many OTC meds are toxic to cats and are not recommended. Surgery of this type is often done by a specialist and can be tricky - no way to tell if she would survive.I hope the best for your cat. It is a hard time you are going through right now.
