My dog has started biting herself and now she has "hot spots" (that's what the groomer called them)...they are sports without any fur. She has basically bit herself raw :( I am not sure what I can do about it. I have tried anti-itch spray and started giving her fish pills. She still chews on herself. Her skin has become extremely dry and has some scabs where she over-bites. What can I do?Also, to the person that thinks that I am biting my dog -- I AM NOT. She is biting herself because she is feeling itchy. You are sick, dude. and PS, I am not FORCING her to eat fish pills. She LOVES them and they are really healthy for dogs AND humans.

    • Ewww why the hell are you biting your dog , that dog needs a safe home away from animal abuses like you biting it and forcing it to eat dehydrating fish pills

    • First, vet visit. She may need some antihistamines and a steroid to get the issue under control. Next, check your food. California Natural Pure & Simple Lamb and Natural Balance LID are great foods for dogs with allergies and hot spots. You want a high quality food without common allergens like wheat, corn, or byproducts. Next, supplement with high quality fish oil and organic coconut oil. I buy coconut oil at Whole Foods. Coconut Oil needs to be slowly introduced to the diet. It's 1tbsp per 30lbs, introduced 1 tbsp at a time. You can also try Vitamin C as it's a great anti-inflammatory.Next, the groomer should be using a good quality medicated shampoo. I like this product: http://www.ez-groom.com/catalog/ultra-sheen-medicated-shampoo-p-14.html
