Can ant bites cause kidney failure in a cat? General Dog Discussions
My friend left her long-haired cat at her mother's house to go on a business trip and big ants invaded the house after it rained heavily. The cat got bit a bunch of times and has since developed kidney failure. Is this a coincidence? Or did the ants cause the kidney failure? References would be appreciated.Details: Ants are almost 1 inch long and had to be pulled from the cat's fur. No further description was given about the ants. Kidney failure developed within days of being bitten. Thanks for all of the information. I will forward it to her. Her cat is still at the vet under observation but will be starting injections soon. My cats are fine. Her cat is only 6 years old, which is very young, so I was wondering what caused it so I could prevent it in my cats.
